Community

Community Service Committee

St John’s has an active service committee that bridges between the congregation and the wider community, embodying the church’s commitment to loving and serving its neighbors. This committee typically identifies local needs, organizes volunteer efforts, and coordinates partnerships with community organizations. Recent projects include work for the Santa Foundation, the Franklin Family Shelter, the Franklin Food Pantry, and collaborative projects with the Franklin Interfaith Council. We encourage members to join us, put their faith into action, and make a difference in the lives of those around them.

Partnerships / Organizations We Support

The Franklin Interfaith Council

Clergy and lay representatives of 8 congregations meet monthly to learn about our different expressions of faith and to do good work in the community.

The Franklin Food Pantry

St John’s regularly collects needed items for this local charity to benefit our low-income neighbors.

Christosal

For 25 years, Christosal has served the most vulnerable communities by defending human rights and contributing to long-lasting positive social change in northern Central America. From their origins as a solidarity bridge for church-based community development to their current three-country focus on human rights, they continue to be committed to identifying and responding to the most pressing issues facing the region.

The Taunton River Deanery

This is the group of ten parishes, from Church of Our Saviour in Middleborough at the southeast to St. John’s in the southwest, and north to Easton. We gather quarterly in an “Assembly” to share what’s happening at the parishes and to decide how to allocate some of the deanery-based grants from the Diocese. Delegates are elected at our Annual Meeting.

Common Cathedral

Youth and others from St John’s travel to Boston Common to worship with this outdoor congregation of unhoused people. We share worship and fellowship, as well as provide lunch.
